- Through the wire, the plunger makes contact with the engine sensors through electronic signals.
- Those sensors indicate when transmission should shift gears according on speed.
- When the shift solenoid is activated, the plunger will open some valves to permit the entry of transmission air flow.
- That puts pressure on the clutches and bands originating that gear shifts.
- While the shift solenoid not receives power, the plunger remains closed.
